I just finished the inspiring book, The Boys in the Boat, by Daniel James Brown, the powerful and engrossing story of the University of Washington's 1936 Varsity Crew Team in their quest for Gold at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. The author states in the words of British master boat designer, George Yeoman Pocock, '"Where is the spiritual value of rowing?... The losing of self entirely to the cooperative effort of the crew as a whole."' I loved this book!
