I'm reading Max Hasting's Catastrophe 1914: Europe Goes to War to remind myself what a horror and tragedy war is and also as a warning that the proliferation of nuclear weapons (and the current conduct of Vladimir Putin) could lead to events that would trigger World War III. It's an engaging and disturbing account of political and military events from August to the end of 1914. Heartbreaking.
