I'm in the middle of A Secret Gift: How One Man's Kindness – and a Trove of Letters – Revealed the Hidden History of the Great Depression by Ted Gup. During the Depression, an anonymous person placed an ad in the local Canton, Ohio, newspaper offering financial help to around 75 families in need – promising anonymity for those who wrote and requested help during the Christmas holiday season. Generations later, these letters were found by the donor's family, and the families who benefited from that generosity were contacted. I can't put it down!
