Reader recommendation: The Whole World Over

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

The Whole World Over by Julia Glass tells the story of Greenie, a superb baker discovered by a senator from Texas. She accepts an offer to work for him, but it means moving to Texas. She goes, with the hope that her husband, Allan, and son will follow. There are two other minor characters intertwined with Greenie and Allan in the story. Each character must learn to step out of his or her comfort zone in order to grow and change into the life intended for them. What happens to each is a breath of fresh air for the reader.
