Reader recommendation: Pepperland

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

Pepperland by Barry Wightman is a '70's rock and roll race through the heartland of America – a love letter to the power of newfangled computers and the importance of a guitar pick. "Pepperland" is a novel about missing information, missing people, missing guitars, brothers, revolution, Agents of the Federal Government, IBM, Hugh Hefner, love, death, and the search for it amidst the wreckage of recession-wracked, rundown mid-'70s America. It's a good and fun summer read.
