I am reading Eisenhower’s Sputnik Moment: The Race for Space and World Prestige by Yanek Mieczkowski. This is an exciting and historic look at President Eisenhower’s significant role in developing America’s space program. After the Soviet Union launched their Sputnik satellite, Eisenhower responded by leading our nation to greater space exploration that led to our landing the first man on the moon. This is an important contribution to scholarship on the Eisenhower presidency.
