Reader recommendation: Singled Out

I just finished reading Singled Out: How Two Million British Women Survived Without Men after the First World War by Virginia Nicholson. It's a wonderful social history of two generations before mine. Now I know why so many of my teachers were single and just what it entailed. This book is very well researched and quite enlightening, especially for "Downton Abbey" fans.
