I just finished What Work Is, by Philip Levine, a Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet who is best known for his poems about working-class Detroit.  As someone who grew up in Motown, his poems resonate with me.  His word-pictures take you into the heart of the working class, albeit with a grace and deeply felt kinship with those who work with their hands.
