Mohsin Hamid’s fourth novel follows two young people as they begin a love affair amid a civil war in an unnamed country and travel to Greece, England, and finally the United States. Mr. Hamid explores the clash between tradition and modernity. Hamid was able to turn around his novel faster than any of his previous works after being inspired by author Haruki Murakami to pick up a daily walking habit.
