Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

"Bright and Distant Shores" author Smith's novel is the story of Sara de Vos, who became the first female master painter in Amsterdam's Guild of St. Luke in the seventeenth century. An art student and the owner of one of de Vos's paintings become involved with de Vos's artwork centuries later. "It's really about sort of what people will do for the love of art," Nelson says.
