This deeply affecting examination of the orphan crisis in Ethiopia was written by a journalist who is herself the adoptive mother of several children from Ethiopia. The heroine of her story is an Ethiopian woman who founds an orphanage, but the book also narrates the stories of some of the children there as well as their families, both biological and adopted. The human stories are incredibly poignant, and the geopolitical analysis of the causes of the crisis is astute and unsparing.
