5. Edward L. Ayers, president of the University of Richmond in Richmond, Va.

After serving at Richmond’s president since 2007, Edward L. Ayers plans to step down in June 2015  to continue his pursuits as a history scholar on the university’s faculty. Here's what Ayers is reading:
