4 movies to rediscover as audiobooks

Books that jump from the printed page to the big screen may yield fresh pleasures in audio format. Here are four we recommend. All titles are available to download from www.amazon.com or may be accessed from a public library.

1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

1  Breakfast at Tiffany’s, by Truman Capote
(Read by Michael C. Hall, Brilliance Audio, 3 CDs, 2 hours and 52 minutes)

The novella, told through the eyes of Holly Golightly’s neighbor Fred, is very different from the iconic Audrey Hepburn film. It reveals a 1943 New York of casual racial slurs and young women living like modern geishas. Michael C. Hall is a sublime reader, imbuing each character with the appropriate regional accent and capturing the longing and sadness Truman Capote wove throughout the text. Keep this one – you will want to hear it again someday.
