The author of the blockbuster hit “The Fault in Our Stars,” a love story about two teens diagnosed with cancer, is an extreme social media user with 2.7 million Twitter followers, a YouTube channel with 7 million followers, and a fanatical fan base who self-identify as Nerdfighters. It’s paid off: “Fault” has sold more than 1 million copies, debuted at No. 1 on the NYT bestseller list, and was adapted into a blockbuster movie.
