Adam McKay, director and co-writer of the 2004 movie "Anchorman," among others, said he believes that "there's no greater truth detector than comedy." In addition, McKay said, both the comedy and horror genre appeal across geographic lines if it's done well. "If someone laughs at something, they'll laugh at it in South Carolina and they'll laugh about it on the Upper East Side of New York," he said. "So I think that's what's great about horror and comedy.... If someone's funny, anyone can see it."
