Devine, who was a member of the CIA for more than 30 years and rose to the position of associate director of overseas operations, tells his story in the new memoir, which was written with Houston Chronicle managing editor Vernon Loeb. In the book, Devine tells stories including his time being in charge of what came to be known as Charlie Wilson's War in Afghanistan and how he urged the CIA to find Pablo Escobar. Nelson calls the memoir "fascinating."
