10 best books of March: the Monitor's picks

Spring is in the air (well, almost, anyway) and a new crop of books has just arrived. Here are some of the Monitor book critics' favorite March picks.

4. "Boy, Snow, Bird," by Helen Oyeyemi

British novelist Helen Oyeyemi ("Mr. Fox") enchants with her retelling of the Snow White story, this time set in 1950s New England. Questions of race and identity are woven throughout the novel, but in the end it's the beauty of Oyeyemi's language and the subtle intelligence of her characters that will keep readers turning pages.
