4. Meeting a Maple Leaf great

A formative experience that Orr treasures from his youth hockey days occurred when he and his teammates on the Parry Sound Shamrocks traveled to Toronto to play an exhibition game. That night they attended a Maple Leafs game in the Maple Leaf Garden. The youngsters had an opportunity to meet some of the Maple Leaf stars, including team captain George Armstrong, who impressed Orr with how well he treated the visitors. That stuck with Orr and inspired him to honor that example throughout his own career. “You never know how a single interaction with a person might affect your life,” he writes, “so you must constantly try to be at your best.”
