"Eat, Pray, Love" author Gilbert tells the story of the Whittaker family in her new novel. Patriarch Henry is the richest man in Philadelphia and his daughter, Alma, becomes a botanist who is drawn to a man whose mode of thinking is anything but scientific. Nelson pointed out that while Gilbert is often recognized for her memoirs, this isn't her first foray into fiction (previous works include the novel "Stern Men"). "It's extremely well-researched and it covers a lot of places, but it just really works as a novel," says Nelson. "The research isn't overwhelming."
