8. From 2000: “The Brethren” by John Grisham

Here we find ourselves on familiar territory, since Grisham, in this now 13-year-old novel, is still very much a publishing phenomenon. The story, much in the tradition of Grisham’s other legal thrillers, concerns three disgraced judges who hatch another scam while serving time together in prison.
