Graphic novels are at the center of a push for e-book lending in libraries, including most recently Comics Plus: Library Edition, a partnership between distributor Brodart and digital vendor iVerse Media.
The biggest vendor for digital lending, OverDrive, also carries comics and other vendors are getting on board.
The big reasons? Graphic novels tend to come in lengthy series, making digital an efficient means to stock them. What’s more, the audience for graphic novels – tech-savvy teens – tends to respond more to the digital medium than do other reader segments.
