"Running with the Legends" by runner and sportswriter Michael Sandrock highlights some of the greatest runners of all time, including marathoners Emil Zatopek and Uta Pippig. Drawing on interviews and research, Sandrock tracks the way the sport has changed since the 1950s. He doesn't just focus on long-distance runners. Alberto Juantorena, the only athlete to ever win the 400 and the 800 meter events in the Olympics, is also featured. Sandrock gives every runner his or her due and accurately describes the motivations and personalities of each.
