3. The writer behind 'Pride and Prejudice' was never revealed until after her death

Various editions of “Pride and Prejudice” were often attributed to "the author of Sense and Sensibility,” or “a lady.” Though women often wrote under pen names at the time, Austen was adamantly determined to keep her identity hidden because she disliked attention and notoriety. Her identity was revealed to the general public only after her death.
