17. Boston an infrequent destination

As much as he bares his soul in “West by West,” the man known as “Mr. Clutch” for his NBA sharpshooting, says that for personal reasons, he remains reluctant to travel to Boston. Presumably, one of those reasons stems from the Lakers’ regular losses to the  Celtics – six times in the league finals during the 1960s. After the last of those heartaching losses, West said he felt like blowing up the Dodge Charger he won as the MVP of the series (the only time a player on the losing team has ever won the award). He says he was so disconsolate that he wanted to quit basketball.
