That Chilean tennis player Nicolas Massu managed to leave behind not one, but two, gold medals in Athens in 2004 is hard to imagine. After all, they were his country’s first-ever Olympic gold medals. Massu broke the drought with a doubles victory, followed by a singles triumph the next day in an Olympic tournament where many of the superstars, including Roger Federer and Andy Roddick, lost before the medal matches. Apparently in the excitement surrounding his Olympic breakthroughs (celebrated back home by thousands in Santiago), Massu left his medals in his room at the Olympic Village, where Chile’s swimming coach found them.
