"Brazilian Adventure" (1999) by Peter Fleming focuses on Fleming's journey into Mato Grosso in the 1930s (when he was a young journalist and Mato Grosso was still a wild region) to search for the long-lost British explorer Colonel Fawcett. Fleming's keen wit makes the telling of this journey more interesting than what or whom he finds there.
