Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

"The last time I slept alone," the queen began her entry for her wedding day on Feb. 10, 1840, and added that "I never saw such crowds of people as there were in the Park, and they cheered most enthusiastically... The Ceremony was very imposing, and fine and simple, and I think ought to make an everlasting impression on every one who promises at the Altar to keep what he or she promises... Oh! this was the happiest day of my life!"
