4. 'Girl, Wanted,' by Steve Miller

In "Girl, Wanted: The Chase for Sarah Pender," investigative reporter Steve Miller follows the case of Sarah Pender, a woman whom the press dubbed "the female Charles Manson." Pender and her boyfriend were accused and eventually convicted of the 2004 murder of their two roommates. Pender's case attracted fresh attention after she escaped from prison in 2008. (She was recaptured a few months later.) Some of those who know Pender have credited her with an uncanny ability to be able to persuade others to do her bidding.
