Langella starred in "After the Fall," a fictionalized version of Miller's marriage to Marilyn Monroe. Years later, Langella wanted to revive it and rewrite it, and he asked Miller why he thought there was such anger towards the play. "They can't forgive me," Miller allegedly said. "They accused me of being unkind, but they were very cruel to her while she was alive and idolized her after she died. No one wants to believe it but I began this play when Marilyn was alive and doing well. It's not a revenge play."
