Peck remembered seeing 'To Kill A Mockingbird' author Harper Lee become emotional during the filming of a scene for the movie, when Jem and Scout Finch ran down the street to meet their father Atticus, played by Peck. "As we were doing that little scene, I glanced across the street and behind the camera saw Harper," Peck remembered. "Her cheeks were glistening... afterwards I walked over to Harper and said, 'I think I saw some tears on your cheeks when we were playing that scene.' She said, 'Oh, Gregory, you've got a little pot belly just like my daddy."
