Lucas remembers how momentous it felt when digital animation started to become possible. "There were testing grounds for the special effects we were working on, like 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,' and eventually we arrived at the stage where we said, 'Why don't we try to do a digital dinosaur'?" Lucas said. "We had thought about doing 'Jurassic Park' with puppet animation, but when the tests came back we nearly had tears in our eyes. We were looking at the screen and saw this Tyrannosaurus rex running. It was the Holy Grail of digital animation."
