5. 'David Copperfield'

The 1999 BBC mini-series version was also praised for its stellar cast in addition to garnering praise for its script. A then-unknown Daniel Radcliffe played the title of David; "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" actor Bob Hoskins portrayed Micawber; "Vera Drake" actress Imelda Staunton played his wife; Radcliffe's future "Harry Potter" co-star Maggie Smith was cast as Aunt Betsey; and "Lord of the Rings" actor Ian McKellan portrayed the cruel headmaster Creakle. "Michael Clayton" actor Tom Wilkinson served as the narrator.
