Jackie Valley is based in the Las Vegas area as the K-12 education writer for The Christian Science Monitor.
Originally from Ohio, Jackie migrated to the Southwest for an internship that turned into a job at the Las Vegas Sun, where she covered everything from crime and courts to local government. In 2017, Jackie joined and helped launch The Nevada Independent, a nonprofit news organization. She started as an education reporter there and later became an assistant editor.
Jackie received her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. Outside of journalism, she loves spending time with family and friends and finding a good beach.
