Devorah Blachor writes a mystery series under the pen name Jasmine Schwartz. Her novels, "Farbissen" and "Fakakt," feature Melissa Morris, a 30-something New Yorker whose search for herself is constantly interrupted by the discovery of dead bodies.
She covered the Palestinian Intifada for the New York Daily News. She also worked as an archivist, satellite technician, secretary, film editor, and a writer for Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. She produced and directed the award winning documentary "Waiting For Quds."
After years of focusing on the Middle East, Devorah decided to lighten up and write uplifting and funny prose – in her articles and novels and on her blog. She practices yoga, meditates, and fantasizes about living in Italy some day.
Devorah was born and raised in New York and has lived in Jerusalem for the past 20 years with her husband, novelist Matt Rees, and their two children, Cai and Mari Carys, and a rabbit called Bundy.
