Connie Foong is an edupreneur-turned-journalist. Before pivoting to journalism, she was a public school teacher with Teach for Malaysia and co-founded Closing The Gap, a social enterprise focused on university access for underserved students. Connie has also been a reporter for Meld Magazine, a website for international students based in Melbourne, Australia, and has freelanced as a copy editor.
Connie grew up in Brunei and Malaysia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia, majoring in English Literature and Political Science. She also has a music degree and is a classically-trained pianist. Connie recently obtained her Master's degree from Columbia Journalism School. She enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and loves cats. She speaks Mandarin and Malay.
