April Austin is the Books Editor and Deputy Editor of The Christian Science Monitor Weekly.
April returned to the Monitor in 2018 after a 12-year absence that included studying landscape design and freelance writing on the subjects of art and design. She served as communications coordinator at Harvard University’s Wiener Center for Social Policy at the Kennedy School, senior marketing writer at Lesley University, and senior writer at Education Development Center.
In her previous roles at the Monitor, April was editor of these sections: Arts & Culture, Learning, and The Home Forum. She also edited in National and International News.
As Weekly Deputy Editor, her portfolio includes Books, as well as Culture in tandem with Kim Campbell.
She is a graduate of Principia College with a BA in drama and a minor in political science.
