Ali Martin is a West Coast writer, contributing to the Monitor’s national news coverage. She grew up in Los Angeles and launched her journalism career in Washington, D.C., where she also earned a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs at American University. Ali spent a decade in television news, reporting for stations in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Highlights include travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina to report on Pennsylvania troops supporting a NATO peacekeeping operation, and protracted coverage of the 9/11 Flight 93 impact on southwestern Pennsylvania. After another decade in nonprofit communications, she made her way back to Southern California, and to reporting for the Monitor. Ali spends her free time connecting with family and friends, and exploring the beautiful Golden State.
