A balance of green and growth

Economic growth vs. protecting the environment.

Traditional wisdom has it that these subjects work in opposition to each other.

But a recent Roper Starch poll found that 68 percent of Americans believe it's possible to marry economic development with environmental protection.

In fact, 57 percent would try to balance the two, but put more emphasis on the environment.

Such environmental concern has led to the "greening" of some US corporations, and Americans are noticing.
