feet anxious; fingers racing; nimbly lacing first the one & then the other shoe before (with a flourish) the easing into upright; the testing-while-surveying (from a 3 inch taller height) the street scene stretching tree-lined; waiting; beckoning to (he-who-stands- a-moment-poised-between anticipating; measuring-while-awaiting-) NOW the wind's eye rush; the roar of air the sudden stare of passers by; the street of eyes admiring the fluid strides; the gliding leaps; the steps of danceflight improvised . . . & THEN THAT FIRST INITIAL PUSH; the rhythmic gliding (stride by stride) till . . . WHOOSH -- the skater (now a dancer whizzing; whirring) flashes by . . .
