King Hussein, Egyptian stress self-rule for Palestinians
President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, on the second day of a three-day state visit to Jordan, said Wednesday that Palestinian self-rule was the most important topic of his talks with Jordan's King Hussein.
He urged the Palestinians to unify ranks ''so that efforts being made for a just settlement of your cause do not go to waste,'' apparently referring to splits within the Palestine Liberation Organization over the leadership of Yasser Arafat, whom Syrian-backed Palestinian groups want removed.
Hussein said Jordan was firm about cooperating with the PLO to achieve Palestinian rights.
