Ruckelshaus wins Senate confirmation
| Washington
William Ruckelshaus won a 97-0 confirmation vote in the Senate as the new administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. He has been acting administrator of the scandal-ridden agency since President Reagan asked him to replace Anne Burford, who resigned earlier this year. Mr. Ruckelshaus, who also was the agency administrator from 1970 to 1973, had promised he would allow no political decisions or sweetheart deals with companies.
