Israel displays huge cache of captured PLO arms

Israel Sunday displayed an arsenal of weapons captured from Palestinian bases in Lebanon that is 10 times larger than Israeli intelligence estimated, said Brig. Gen. Meir Nitzan.

General Nitzan said Israeli troops have so far hauled 4,000 tons of captured PLO weapons and ammunition across the border to Israel. The arms, along with seven T-62 Soviet tanks captured from Syrian troops, are at a logistics base in northern Israel. He said hundreds more operational tanks were waiting to be collected on the battleground. Most of the equipment was made by the Soviet Union, but others seized were made in the US, Western Europe, North Korea, and the East bloc.
