Poland and East Germany to try to offset sanctions

Poland and East Germany have agreed to build up industrial cooperation to fight Western sanctions against the Warsaw military government and to overcome the mutual difficulties caused by Poland's economic troubles.

In a communique issued simultaneously in Warsaw and East Berlin after Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski's visit here for talks with East German leader Erich Honecker, both countries condemned what they termed the intervention politics of the United States and the Western alliance in Poland's internal affairs.
