Inside Report (6)
Reports that a naval facility is being built on the tiny East Caribbean island of Grenada are adding to the Reagan administration's concern about Cuba.
That isn't all. US Defense Department officials reported earlier that an airfield is under construction on Grenada with the help of the Cubans. It will be capable of accommodating advanced jet fighters and transport planes. They quote a Grenadian Cabinet minister, Selwyn Strachan, as saying that Cuba eventually will use the new airport to supply its troops in Angola and that because of its strategic location the airport may also be used by the Soviet Union.
Defense Department officials are not certain why the naval facility is being built but they do not rule out its eventual use by Cuban gunboats.m
