After almost two centuries of "la guillotine" -- the very symbol of the executioner's grim authority -- France seems on the way to abolishing the death penalty. This would be a major and welcome addition to a slowly lengthening list including neighboring West Germany among almost twenty other cou ntries such as Austria, Brazil, Norway, and Venezuela.
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
