Scots selling sand to the Arabs

An enterprising Scottish company has done it at last -- started to sell sand to the Arabs. The Scots company, which operates on this beautiful lower West Highland island off the Ayrshire coast, has been praised by a senior government official for its initiative in exporting special sand to Libya for use in water filtration equipment. Used by the Libyans for filtering Sahara water supplies, the sand is the latest Scottish commercial deal with Arab countries looking for distillation aid.

Oddly, the company here is only a few miles from another Scottish company that has been selling large quantities of desalination equipment to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
