Libya open to talks with US on Mideast

Libya sees no peaceful solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict but is ready for dialogue with Israeli's main backer, the United States, according to Col. Muammar al-Qaddafi. Interviewed by REuters over the weekend, the Libyan leader maintained his stance of refusing all negotiations with Israel and insisting that only bullets could resolve the dispute.

"There is no alternative -- either give up the struggle, surrender to Israel, and sacrifice the Palestinian people, or continue the fight," he said.

Colonel Qaddafi added that he would start a dialogue on the day that only Oriental Jews remained in Palestine and the others had gone back to the countries from which they emigrated.
